As part of our continued support for the NSPCC throughout our 90th Anniversary year, Griffiths & Armour entered two enthusiastic teams of 10 competitive colleagues to take part in the NSPCC’s Childline Sports Day, which was held on Friday 7th June in Manchester, one of three Sports Day events held across the country.
The event took place to raise valuable funds and awareness for the Childline service, which has been supporting children and young people for over 35 years. Childline is a free service, delivering an average of around 16,300 counselling sessions a month last year, and fund-raising events such as the NSPCC Sports Day enables the service to continue, offering confidential support and someone to talk to, 365 days a year.
And what a fantastic event it was, with plenty of healthy competition, many laughs and great teamwork from everyone. To top it all off, the trophy came back down the M62 to Liverpool at the end of the day, as one Griffiths & Armour team finished in first place, being crowned NSPCC’s Childline Manchester Sports Day 2024 Champions!
Simon Keenan, Partner and Group Director, General Insurance Division, said:
“Griffiths & Armour is proud to support the NSPCC, and the Childline Sports Day was a day to remember – we had a great time while helping to raise vital funds for one of our chosen charities. Thank you to all involved in organising the event, to all competitors, and to Paralympic and Olympic medallists Beth Munro and Siobhan-Marie O’Connor for taking the time to chat with us and have a photo with the teams – good luck in the Paralympics in Paris, Beth. And a big congratulations to team G&A for bringing the trophy home to our Head Office where it will sit proudly until next year’s defence!”
Paula Marshall, NSPCC Corporate Partnerships Manager added:
“NSPCC were delighted to have a first Childline Sports Day in Manchester this year. Thanks to Griffiths & Armour for supporting us with two team entries, it was wonderful to have you there on the day. A child or young person contacts Childline on average every 45 seconds and with a handling cost of £4 for each counselling session, these funds are vital to allow us to be there when needed – we simply cannot do what we do without support such as yours.”
Nick Farrelly, Advocate Network member of the NSPCC and Director of Griffiths & Armour led the teams’ fundraising efforts and if anyone would like to donate to the NSPCC and Childline in support of the teams taking part, you can find our fundraising page here.
