Griffiths & Armour has been awarded CarbonNeutral® company certification.
Working alongside Climate Impact Partners, we have undertaken measures to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and offset remaining emissions by supporting global emission reduction projects.
Griffiths & Armour Partner and Group Director – Professional Risks, Kevin Swainson commented:
“We have taken a big step forward in 2023 with our CarbonNeutral® company certification.
As a company, we felt it was important to partner with an expert in the field to measure our carbon footprint and discuss how we could off-set our environmental impact, in addition to taking measures to reduce our emissions at the outset.
Climate Impact Partners is a leader in developing and delivering high-quality, high-impact carbon market solutions for climate action and in working with them we are proud that, from 1 August 2023, Griffiths & Armour is a certified CarbonNeutral® company.”
Griffiths & Armour Partner and Group Director – General Division, Simon Keenan added:
“Achieving CarbonNeutral® company certification at Griffiths & Armour is a real milestone in our ESG journey.
Our approach to the environment, and Environmental, Social and Governance more generally at G&A, is a real priority. We look forward to continuing to make a positive impact and tangible improvements today, and in the days, months and years to come.”
What is the CarbonNeutral® certification?
The CarbonNeutral® Protocol is a publicly available document that sets out the requirements for companies to achieve CarbonNeutral® certification. It is updated annually with input from an Advisory Council of external experts to ensure it reflects the latest industry and scientific best practice.
Carbon neutrality is achieved by calculating a carbon footprint and reducing it to zero through a combination of in-house efficiency measures, renewable energy and external emissions reductions projects.
A CarbonNeutral® certification means that a company has followed The CarbonNeutral Protocol’s clear framework for delivering carbon neutrality for businesses.
What is the UK’s Net Zero Strategy?
The UK is the first major nation to formally support a pledge to cut carbon emissions to be declared carbon neutral by 2050. The UK’s ambitious Net Zero Strategy: Build Back Greener aims to reduce emissions across the board in various industries whilst fostering economic growth and sustainability.
What work has Griffiths & Armour undertaken to be certified as a CarbonNeutral® company?
In working with Climate Impact Partners, a specialist in carbon market solutions for climate actions, we have offset our carbon usage , by purchasing credits to fund emission reduction projects, supporting the transition to a low carbon global economy.
All projects are independently verified to ensure emissions reductions are occurring. This ensures the highest environmental integrity ensuring we have an immediate, positive impact on the climate.
We are supporting two global emission reduction projects: Water Filtration and Improved Cookstones in Guatemala and the Global Renewable Energy Portfolio.
What is the Carbon Neutral Protocol?
The CarbonNeutral Protocol is a framework for climate responsibility and plays a critical role in supporting organisations to make clear and credible claims about their climate strategies and programmes.
What are the next steps?
