Pride is a celebration of people coming together in love and friendship, to show how far LGBT+ rights have come, and how in some places there’s still much work to be done. Here at G&A we’re proud to celebrate all things Pride in line with the Liverpool event, which takes place at the end of July. Pride at G&A 2024 was a huge success with events throughout the day raising money for LCR Pride Foundation, a local charity that works towards making Liverpool the most LGBT+ friendly region in the UK.
From a charity bake sale and informative and thought-provoking yearly round-up of all things Pride, to a catch-up over drinks and snacks at the end of the day, the Griffiths & Armour team painted the office rainbow, celebrating love and friendship and shining a spotlight on the changes we still need to make as a global community.
Lorna Thompson, Senior Administrator said:
“Working on the G&A Pride event is one of the highlights of my year, and we honestly couldn’t ask for a more supportive or receptive group of people to celebrate with, our efforts would be nothing without the group’s unwavering support.
“We always aim to have something enjoyable for as big a cross section of people as we can, whilst always being mindful that we need to keep the true meaning of Pride at the heart of the event. We’ve come a long way since the original Pride riot, but society still has a way to go in terms of true equality and acceptance for everyone. I do feel more hopeful every year though, as I can see attitudes and perceptions changing constantly.”
March with Pride
Liverpool City Region’s LGBT+ community and its allies called for their voices to ‘Be Heard’ as more people than ever before joined LCR Pride Foundation to March with Pride on 27 July, and the G&A team joined a record-breaking 25,000 people, marching from St George’s Hall to Liverpool Pier Head with thousands more lining the streets. The annual march ended at Pride in Liverpool’s free festival, where international and local acts performed show-stopping sets.
George Heron, Claims Executive commented:
“It was fantastic to take part in Liverpool’s Pride Parade with friends and colleagues on Saturday 27th, a brilliant atmosphere and the colourful celebrations ensured that all who took part thoroughly enjoyed themselves.”
